Bluff failed. Gutshot missed. Top pair good?
I admit, I made a mess for myself here. This was at the end of a long session, getting a little impatient, and I was trying to make a move on a player who had shown to be pretty passive postflop... How'd I do on each street?

I think the turn card may have improved villains hand

i don't like the flop reraise or turn bet. I think the fact that the player had been passive post flop and has bet into you on the flop to take your betting lead indicates they have a strong hand.

Re: Bluff failed. Gutshot missed. Top pair good?
So, as played, what should I have done on the turn? Check/call? Check/fold? Smaller bet?
My thinking on the 2/3 pot-sized turn bet was a) I might represent the flush and induce a fold, b) I've been aggressive preflop and on the flop, maybe firing again on the turn will convince villain to lay down a good, but not monster hand... or c) maybe, just maybe I just took the lead with that king... Is this bad thinking? |

Flop play is fine. Do this with QJ too sometimes.
I would c/c turn and lead 1/2 pot for river. |

Fold PF. Check/fold flop. Flop play sucks because he calls with a bajillion hands anyway.

[/ QUOTE ] I am not a FR nit, I play mainly 6max, But... I think a pf fold is best. Never open limp from UTG/UTG+1. In fact, just never open-limp (unless you have a specific reason for it). The problem with playing KQs from EP in full ring is that it's basically just a high suited connector. And you don't make that much money playing suited connectors OOP. |
