Default Decsision about monitor: 24\" or 30\"?

Hi.

This may be the wrong forum if so I am sorry.

I have decision to make about monitors:

1. 24" Acer costs about 1000$ max res. 1950 x 1200
or
2. 30" Dell costs about 2000$ max res 2550 x 1600 (+ need a new videocard to get max resolution supported costs additional 400$)

Question is: does 30" is worth it and how many tables you can place in each of them (non resizable tables)? Does anyone who have one of those can share their experience?

Thanks

I am not milionaire but can afford to spend extra 1k$ if it is worth it.

P.S. Buying 2 monitors isnt an option for serious reasons.

what 2 monitors are you speak about? 17"-19" LCD max res are 1280x1024 and you can palce max 4 tables on each + its 2 monitors and take a lot of spece and doesnot look good + I have seen 2(17" LCD) monitor setup and I dont like it + people around me will think that I am a bit too crazy about poker..

get 2 20" 1600x1200
i don't understand how you are worried about space if you are about to buy a 30"

Please check the CTH FAQ for "how many tables".

If you need to ask whether 30" is worth the money, it's not worth the money. In fact, if you have to ask, you should get 2 20" monitors.

OK, lets look at the numbers instead of guessing and speculating...

Dell 3007WFP $1274 + shipping + video card = 2560x1600 = 6 tables*
Dell 2 x 2407WFP $679*2=$1358 + shipping + video card (if needed) = 3840 x 1200 = 10 tables**

Your typical non re-sizable poker table = 800x600

*Dell 3007WFP = 3 tables wide and 2 tables high; 6 tables without overlap.

**Dell 2x 2407WFP = 4 tables wide and 2 tables high; 8 tables without any overlap or 5 tables wide and 2 tables high with slight left to right overlap or 10 tables.

A video card to drive two Dell 2407 you will need a decent card with two DVI outputs. Something along the lines of Nvidia 7600 or better. Which can be had for $150+ (less if you find a decent sale) if you shop around a bit.

A video card to drive one Dell 3007 you will need a good card with dual-link DVI (not the same as having two DVI outputs) which at a minimum is going to be (since I know nvidia and not the others) a Nvidia 7800+ which can be had for ~$250+.

As long as you are not planning/needing to do all kinds of computer games in addition to poker, you do not need the top of the line video cards like you have been quoted.
