KK line. low board/draw-heavy/ board pair the works.
Hero and Villain have 800 behind. 3-6 6 handed. Villain is playing solid, not too weak-not too strong, nothing spectacular. Hero is playing his usual brand of great poker.
Hero is dealt KK UTG+1. Villain is on button. Hero raises to 20. Folds to Villain who calls. Blinds fold. Flop: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero bets 35. Villain raises to 85. Hero calls. Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero checks. Villain bets 110. Hero calls. River: 8. Hero bets 150. Villain calls. Standard? I was shown 74 for the straight. Do we just check fold river if he bets instead? That seems to suck since i see him playing 99 QQ the same way. I hate being OOP If i was in position the whole hand, and i call the turn bet of 110, do i just open fold the river when he bets 200? |

Re: KK line. low board/draw-heavy/ board pair the works.
As played, I don't like the bet on the river. Sure, you counterfeitted 56 but I think you make most of your money off bluffs from missed draws. I like check/call.
With that said, I usually bet the turn here and seriously consider folding the river if I'm met with resistence on the turn. Drawy board = make him pay for flush draw. |

Re: KK line. low board/draw-heavy/ board pair the works.
TT-QQ or at least JJ and QQ will probably 3-bet you preflop. 99 checks behind on the turn a lot. So, the only hand we valuebet against are pretty much never his actual hand.
So, IMO the river bet is rather "spewy" or whatever you englishspeaking guys call it. The rest of the hand is rather standard, I guess. |

I prefer c/c river. The draws missed and that's a great card for him to bluff at.

I really dislike the river bet.

Actually I think I was being results-oriented with my last post. Bet and get value from other overpairs, fold to a raise. But make a real bet.

I don't think that overpairs are that big a part of his range, not enough for me to like betting.

Re: KK line. low board/draw-heavy/ board pair the works.
I might reraise him on that flop. If he calls, you think he simply has an 8. He can't call a re-re raise on that board with any draw. He re pops with any made hand, and you can get away from the KK.

bad spot to block bet riv, just check and re-eval based on the obv - bet size, timing, history, reads, etc. i think this is a decent spot to b/f turn to protect against draws since i could see this getting checked back pretty often.
