Default a 20-40 from way back when

bellagio 20-40 half kill

i raise in EP AA2J

CO calls, SB calls, BB calls

flop

3 3 J

checks to me, I bet, only the SB calls

turn

K

SB checks, I bet, SB calls

river

J

sb bets, I raise, sb 3-bangs, I call

SB is an old man who probably plays poker very sporadically, is very loose, and sort of passive. Tourist type, probably just an old run of the mill upper middle class gambler.

I check the turn. I mean, what is he check-calling you with on a 33J flop? I expect he's got the 3 in this spot most of the time, but perhaps he's just really bad, I dunno.

I don't mind the flop bet, but I take the free card on the turn and I obviously jam the river. It's not impossible for him to have you beat, but most of the time your hand is good in this instance.

thats a horrible turn card for you. once he calls you've got to think there's a good chance your behind, and when he 3-bets the river your certainly dead if he's fairly experienced in o/8.
I would probably bet the turn as you did, but call his river donk and look at his full house. Against some players i might even muck.
ooops, sorry, the king isn't as bad as you have aces up, and have a better chance of still being ahead. i would still only call the river though.

[/ QUOTE ]Tex - He's got you beat.

He might have been ahead back on the turn. But whether he was or not, he's got you beat now.

He may be averse to check-raising. But however he feels about sandbagging you, by playing the hand in this way he does seem to have maximized the amount you put into this pot.

Probably not a good idea for you to have raised him on the river.

Default BBV

he had KJ59

i think he had 3% equity on the flop

the only hands i lose to on the river that are possible are J3xx KJxx or K3xx, and given his play of the hand I put him on a J, not a 3, and figured if he bets trip jacks there always, which, i think he does, then I am ahead of more than enough hands in that range to raise.

i think i screwed up by calling the 3-bet.

that's never not a FH when he 3 bangs me.

Well you beat me to it Tx but versus a tourist type especially the way the bellagio game typically plays I don't think you can raise the river unless you plan on turbo-mucking to a 3-bet which feels like FPS so I'd just call. Online I'd play it the way you did.

Given that read I don't like the river raise. I at best call here.
