Default 1/2 Hi: (JJ)3 from BI step-by-step (ish)

I prefer to play my over-pairs in the hole from the BI with just a BI, since betting sometimes just creates an un-wanted fat pot, but I'll take criticism from there if you'd like.

Villain is a good regular, but he's pretty aggressive, 1.6 agg factor, 22% 3rd street raise.

How's my slowplay on 4th looking?

7 Card Stud High ($1/$2), Ante $0.10, Bring-In $0.50 (converter)

3rd Street - (0.70 SB)

Hero: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___brings-in___raises

Very sexy. Going to pop it on 5th? or on 6th?

Don't assume villain will lead Fifth. You raised on third, so a club or open pair will shut him down, and a lot of players will slow down with one pair on Fifth anyway. If you had played Third slow, you would look weaker and could count on a bet, allowing you to raise. Get him to put more bets in on 4th so he is less likely to fold a big pot on Fifth. If he folds anyway, you get a little more money.

He has a 3 showing as well and then led when the A fell. I find that in this type of situation, villian has AA almost 100% of the time. Ther eis no way he is checking AA on 5th after hero flat calls.

I tend to raise 4th because I like representing the flush draw and I like making the pot a little bigger early, but I think a call is basically fine too.

I like the check too. Leaning towards more sensual than sexy. If you raise and catch a Jack or spade, hes prolly gonna fold and kill your action. Ill take the risk and go for 2BB than 1SB. Very good chance you will have position so you will still get a bet in on 5th if he checks to you.

Any thought on villain having (AA)3 here?

Its not even a sensual check. Villain acts first, so its just a sly call. I think this is a great spot to just call as he most likely won't have the chance to take a free card on 5th unless your board improves over his.

AA3 is certainly possible, but most would reraise 3rd there I would think....if it is, hero will know on 5th if he caps it.

A mistake. At this point you're looking at only 4BB (a raise plus 5th 6th & 7th). If you raise on 4th with the two clubs and miss on the 3rd club, he will bet out on 5th and could act agressively with a RR. Now its at least 4.5BB. .5BB is not a huge mistake but still a mistake. In addition any slowplay raise on 5th or 6th could make him fold. Once an agreesive player puts you on a hand (4 clubs), and his hand is not strong (a pair 3s with good Kicker) he will tend to play agressively. Make him pay.

The "22%" is misleading. This requires two factors. What's the missing information.

Pocket A's would be the only hand I would worry about on 4th. More than likely, you have the best hand so get money in the pot. If he's got you, he's got you.
