Best Substance for Naked Egg Drop
A common high school physics contest is to drop an egg into something that catches it, and you get points based on how short your catching-device is. The best I have ever seen is some guy dropped an egg from 4 meters high into 3 cm of overcooked sticky rice.
Does anyone know a better substance? |

Silicon gel?
A wet sponge? Ask a woman to lay down and aim for her belly? (Not a volleyball player though, it's the old bounce a quarter off a bed theory) It depends on if you're going for practicality or shock value. Personally, I'd choose the last one for both qualities. |

Silicone works well. Insulation is decent.

Re: Best Substance for Naked Egg Drop
I used thick but very soft upholstery foam. But that was a very long time ago and it was the day before class so I didn't give it much thought.

Re: Best Substance for Naked Egg Drop
Slightly different experiment, but I saw a guy use a loaf of wonder bread once. That worked well.

Sheet of Tefflon. 1/2 inch thick will work gerounteed.
