Re: Just wondering if it is terrible to call this overbet
Your opponent's line is strange but you still only beat air and Ace-rag. It's not entirely unlikely that he has Jx, just binged the river, and thinks this is the way to get paid. With an unattractive pot and not an incredible amount invested, I find the fold button here.

I think he has a J way too often to make a call good.

Your post Final Pot Size indicates that you did indeed call.

Re: Just wondering if it is terrible to call this overbet
I figured my hand was pretty defined as Ax. On the river I thought he could have Jx or a busted flush/straight draw. On the river it felt like it would be a kind of cool bluff for him to try to get my of my Ax. but maybe noone would try to run a bluff like that and I just threw $255 away... How often in percentages do you think he has a set or full house here?
Also, in general, how often do you think that overbets on the river are monsters, and how often are they bluffs? |

Re: Just wondering if it is terrible to call this overbet
For me this is just about what he thinks I have on the turn. I think he puts you on an ace, and I think he wants a call. Smells like 222.
