Default What\'s the typical salary scale at hedge funds / private equity co\'s??

Perhaps a tad off-topic, but it seemed like it belonged here.

I'm quite familiar with the standard salary scale for investment banking firms for college grads, having had several friends who went that route, and even considered it myself for a while.
55 / 65 / 75 first 3 years out was typical when i graduated at least, with bonuses of between 60% and 90%.

I have no clue, though, what salary scales look like when those investment bankers jump to hedge funds or private equity shops after their first few years in IB. All I keep hearing from friends who did it or are looking to is that it's a lot more money, and the work (while still long hours) isn't quite so slavish; but common decency has precluded me from asking just how much their salary is: base/bonus.
(also, does it differ substantially for individuals who come over after 2-3 years doing IB vs. those coming out of an MBA program?)

I'm sure some people here know the answer.
