Default Tom McEvoy Sighting at 10/20 on Stars

I know, most of you probably don't care. My first time sitting with a "pro" at the table. Was surprised to see him at 10/20.

He was to my left, around 1am EST.

I said something like "hey Tom, didn't expect to see you down here with the rest of us"

He replied "need the $$$$" and I said "you don't need the $$$$, you release 13 poker books a month!"

He told me that no one gets rich off of writing poker books (I bit my lip and didn't say anything about the quality of his books, or how they all seem to rehash previous stuff he's written, nor did I say that I don't believe anyone gets "rich" playing 10/20)

Anyway, not a big fan of his "game", but he was cordial enough at the table, so that was cool.

Anyway, I'm off to bed, not sure if he's still there or how long he'll be.

The more I see these two outers, the better I feel
about not being the only one, but less trust I have
in stars RNG and software. I mean sick [censored] like this
happens too often, I just need to figure out how to
use my 250k hands to prove that.

He sat with me in tht 5/10 horse game for a while and bought in light!!! I asked him if he needed a loan and a few other people made some similar comments and he honestly said that even "great poker players" make bad decisions. He went on to say that Stars paid him on the 20th but wouldn't disclose the amount, I didn't ask that question. He was very nice, played tight for a few hands and then left. I really think he might be near busto based on his comments.

Dude, we've all been there. But I've seen plenty of that stuff live as well. My Q/Q making quad's against a shorties A/A. My Q/4 hitting a flop of 4/4/10 against a slow played pair of Aces. My K/K hiting the King to bust A/A.

Then last weekends home game it seemed every dominated hand pulled out a victory on the river. Got K/J against K/Q, Jack on the river. Got A/10 vs. A/Q? 10 on the river. Got Q/10 on an A/10/10/Q turn up against an opponent who has K/10? King on the river.

So the same stuff happens live, it just happens more online because you see such a larger volume of hands.

Wow! Joe Hachem SUCKS at PLO8! He did know this wasnt straight PLO right? Who the hell reraises with 89TQ? I dont even limp that hand. And then potting the turn multiway with middle two pair and a gutshot when there is a lowdraw and an ace on the board.

Gotta get me a piece of this Hachem guy.

Being a nit isn't the only way to win at plo8. In fact in the bigger games QT98 can win you big pots versus nits like you. Hachem was playing 10-20 plo8 a while ago, and I do agree he sucks, but he was actually playing poker, and he knew when the nits were folding. He actually is up $3700 in my database for plo8 for 342 hand. FWIW
