noob question/comment on trips
I play HE in general, but have recently started to dabble with 7CS. Both because it's always good to mix it up a bit and also, because the game intrigues me & eludes me more than HE (not that HE doesn't intrigue & elude me).
For the first time since I've been playing, I was dealt trips (888) Oh the excitement! My hand never improved - and it occurred to me that no matter what happened - I was calling that hand down to the bitter end (I ended up losing the pot - microlimits, so no big deal). From a more experienced player to an absolute novice such as myself: what's some basic advice on knowing when to fold trip? I gotta tell ya - as an absolute beginner - it's really tough letting them go. And there was no way I was gonna fold 'em the FIRST time around. |

Re: noob question/comment on trips
I've only folded trips before the river a few times. One time was in a $30/60 stud/8 game where I had rolled Tens and filled on sixth. I was up against JAJA and an obvious low. JAJA had check-raised on fifth, so it was fairly obvious that I was beaten, drawing dead (case Ten was gone), and it was going to get expensive. I went for a walk without even watching the rest of the hand.
Really, when you have trips early, you should try to get as much money in the pot as possible, and that frequently means raising early. Rarely should you even think about folding. |

Seriously though, you usually don't fold rolled up hands unless its very clear that you are beate. |

Re: noob question/comment on trips
Screen shots using the four-color deck are grounds for banning. So are any posts mentioning light "beer" and the stinky Cardinals.

Re: noob question/comment on trips
1.) Usually don't, not until 7th at least.
2.) You may want to, how you say, bet them at some point. |
