I'm seriously tempted to just lock your thread as is, because you used the word/phrase/abomination "ne1".

What does "fairly new" mean? You said the USB ports haven't worked "since you got it". Have they ever worked?

If it's homebuilt and the ports have never worked, then I think you (or whoever built it) needs to check the cables connecting the USB ports the mobo.

edit: The "once in a blue moon" part is really wacko. Are you sure it sometimes works? Always in the same port?

lol Sam, glad to know you have an "ne1" peeve....I've been known to use that phrase (tho usually on IRC). I was actually more disturbed by the "farely new" computer (bought on a golf course?).

Are both the mouse and keyboard USB? When the thumb drive doesn't work, is there any error? What model printer and did you follow the instructions to the letter? Some USB devices will NEVER work (without registry editing) if you plug them in prior to installing the drivers *FIRST* (most notably HP's). Are you using front panel USB ports that don't work or rear ones (or both for each affected device)?

We'll try to walk u through but need more specifics.
