Default Do you expect anything when a waiter dumps a drink in your lap?

Last night at PF Changs a waiter dumped an entire majito directly into my wife's lap. There was no way she could sit through the meal, so I ran out and bought her some pants (this was in a shopping complex), she changed, and we went on with our meal. At the end, the bill included everything, including the drink.

I was kind of upset, but then thought about it. I guess a restaurant comps you something to keep you happy, but after she got new pants, we enjoyed our meal just fine. Do you expect something done for you in this instance? Do you complain about it if it isn't?

Lettuce wraps rule.

You can't be serious. Any self respecting establishment would not have made you pay for the meal.

i would at the very least expect my drinks to be on the house and would probably mention it to the waiter. or just deduct it from his tip.

WOW.

If I was the manager, I would:

a) Comp the meal
b) Pay for dry cleaning
c) Offer $ for a subsequent trip

Anyone with any business sense realizes that a happy customer is more valuable than their bill.

That being said, you should of gotten at least half the meal comped or something. Anything.

If it's a waitress I expect a BJ. From a waiter, a handy will suffice.

As others said, wow. Did you ask for the manager?

No, but I said something along the lines of "I don't mean to complain, but if a drink is dumped in wife's lap, I'd at least think you might comp the drink." She said "well, let me go check," came back and just dropped the check (with the drink comped). I should have asked for a manager, but we had a crying kid so got out of there. So without having asked for a manager on site, is it worth writing a letter? I'm big on writing letters.

So after she sat in alcohol soaked clothes for some time while you left your dinner to go into the mall and buy her new pants so she could change it was all ok? And you don't think the restaurant should have to worry about all that inconvenience they caused you?

If they won't comp the meal that night, corporate is getting a call the next morning to make it ok.

That's a big negative on any tip.
