Default Non-US Players, Evaluating the Scene

The face of online poker is changing as we type. I do feel sorry for the quandry that our US players have found themselves in. I hope things resolve into a situation where US citizens will be granted the same liberties regarding online poker that so many non-US folks have.

In the meantime, perhaps we, the leftover players, could chat it up regarding which sites we'll find ourselves on, and which sites may go completey under due to this legislation.

Are there sites with so many US players that we may find ouselves last out the door without our money?$?

On the other extreme..

What sites will be impacted so little as to not make a difference whatsoever?

Regarding peak table times around the globe, should we expect poker to reach a peak in the early afternoon each day in Canada?

And I hate to anticipate our benefitting from their demise but..

May we expect some better than average bonus offers in the coming weeks as sites attempt to re-solidify player bases?

Just thought I'd begin to guage the situation for players who are not from the States.

I'm Canadian.

Pacific is busier today than I have seen it in a long time. I don't think they will be affected as much as some of the other sites becuase they advertise heavily in the UK and Europe so that is where most of their players come from.

Another question you should have asked:

Will the Canadian government follow suit?

Hi Pegboy,
If US player traffic decreases substantially, then peak teams for most poker sites will be around 5pm EST.

I will not speak for other sites, but I can tell you that Everest Poker did not accept US players even before last weeks news. Our traffic will not decline as a direct result of the bill passage.

I'm sure this one has crossed the mind of Canadian players. Canadians should realize that our political landscape is entirely different from the US. I'm no fan of the Harper government. I find his affiliation with US international policy disgusting. But the man did confront George W with the proposition that cross border security enhancements, specifically passport requirements, would be an indication that the terrorists have won. Harper believes that enhanced government intervention is a bad thing. He comes from a province that despises government intervention. I cannot see his government taking any interest in outlawing internet poker. And the Christian right is wimpy in this country as compared to the US. We rarely argue about abortion. The majority of Canadians support gay marriage. Smoking dope is more of a pastime than a criminal offence. Internet gambling is way way way down the agenda. Internet poker isn't even an issue.

That's my optimistic viewpoint!!!

disclaimer: i'm talking about everest the 2nd time in this thread but am in no way affiliated, except for playing there sometimes
