Default Government databases: good for the plebes, bad for the fabulous

The British government is putting together a database of "interesting information" on all the children in the country (and their families, of course).

Oh, but if you're a "celebrity" you can have your children's information excluded from the database. Obviously, the politicians who are constructing this database have qualified themselves as celebrities.

Between 300,000 and 400,000 users will access the index. Children who have a reason for not being traced, for example where there is a threat of domestic violence or where the child has celebrity status, will be able to have their details concealed.

Seems to me that EVERY child has a reason for "not being traced".
