Re: Dell 2001Fp USB ports not working
My father bought a new Dell computer a few months ago and he had the same problem. It turned out to be a cable that wasn't plugged properly on the mother board apparently ...

Re: Dell 2001Fp USB ports not working
There's always a bit of software recognition for the USB hub. Maybe check the list of devices to see if it appeared there?

how many cords do you have plugged into the 2001FP, not including the devices you want to plug in like the ipod?

Re: Dell 2001Fp USB ports not working
Things to check:
There should be a USB cable running from your computer to the monitor. If not, that's your problem. Unplug, reconnect both ends and see if it works. If there is a USB cord from your computer to your monitor, try plugging it into a different USB connecton on the computer, preferable one that you know works. Try switching the cable with a known good cable, e.g. one you use to connect a printer or something. If the usb port on the monitor work and the device doesn't after you do this, you've got a bad cable. Replace. Basicly, you want to figure out what component is bad, by a logical process of substitution. It could be the port on your computer, the cable or the usb hub on th monitor. |

Re: Dell 2001Fp USB ports not working
bump because i'm having the same problem. what do i need to do? did you ever figure it out?
i just grabbed my monitor from home and am now across the country with it and realized those USB hubs would now be extremely useful...what cable did i forget to grab to make it work? i have a male-male usb cable (but just plugging that into one of the ports) and running other USB devices from the other ones doesn't work. am i supposed to have a different cable? there is a more square looking port with the same usb symbol on the bottom on the monitor. am i supposed to have a usb-to-square shape cable to make this work? any help appreciated. |

Re: Dell 2001Fp USB ports not working
Yes, that's what it looks like. standard "flat" plug for connection to the pc, and a ~1 cm square plug for connection to the monitor. don't know if the square plug is proprietary, doubt it.
