Default fast pass, yes or no

WASHINGTON — A government proposal that would force air travelers to pay up to $200 a year for a fast pass through airport security could kill the program, advocates and lawmakers said Wednesday.

I fly three or four times a year and I might consider this. For people who fly frequently this is a no brainer.

that's what i was thinking. i don't fly every week, but often enough that $200 isn't a big deal. i was wondering why the spin was "oh noes!!! something that will save people many hours of waiting around will cost *gasp* $200!"

Ridiculously easy decision. I'd buy it for my mom for holiday travel at that price.

It's obviously a good decision since the more fast-pass users there are, the shorter the normal lines are.

The fact that tons of businesspeople will be able to expense this makes this a great idea for everyone.

A part of the article that I found very interesting was the crimial background check that you have to get. That could cause a lot of problems for business travelers trying to keep their criminal records a secret.

For people who fly at least once a month I would find it hard to believe that this wouldn't be worth it. Why are they making a big deal of the $200 price tag? Is this just politics? Seems like a bargain for me.
