Totalled my car, need a new one. HELP!
Ok I got into an accident, and my car is totalled. I drove a 95 lumina, and I expect to get back anywhere from $1500-$3000 back from the insurance company. Here's my dilemma, I have no idea what to buy. This is my second "used" car. I say "used" because this and the car before that were basically just cars bought out of need. I have a decent amount of time to make this decision (I'm driving my brother's extra car), so I am going to try to make the best one. I make almost $1200/month (I'm in college) and my bills are usually under $500. I have about $6000 saved for a downpayment, the problem is I don't know what to get.
Here's what I would like -reliable -Fuel efficent -HIP Any ideas? |

It's a no brainer. Toyota Camry, new or used. Simply the best car for the money on the planet.

Re: Totalled my car, need a new one. HELP!
I've stated this in several threads in the past - I think the Nissan Maxima's are particularly good for performance/reliability.
The VQ/VG series engines have been on ward's best engine list for more than a decade. 2002 is the year they switched from the 3.0 to 3.5L, I'd look at those. Probably can find something for around 10-11k. PROS: reliable, good power CONS: gas mileage not so great, needs premium fuel, front wheel drive |

Maxima is an excellent suggestion as is the Accord. Maybe try to find a used Audi A4 1.8T. Careful though, some have electrical problems.
