best black and whites/ help me help a friend
So my buddy has been reseaching, finding inspiration for a film he is writing and shooting. He is looking at mostly black and white flicks, especailly of the Noir kind.
Some of the films that stand out for him are: The Third Man; Touch of Evil; Marty!; Sunset Boulevard. As you can see, Orson Wells is huge, as well as Alfred Hitchcock. I was wondering if their was any other black and whites that he might want to check out. Thanks in advance. |

Double Indemnity is a classic.
It's not noir, but Good Night and Good Luck is a beautifully photographed black and white film. |

Detour [/ QUOTE ] I just watched this a couple of weeks ago for the first time. While I enjoyed the mood and the style I found too many of the plot points and turns too implausable to really enjoy the overall experience. |

[/ QUOTE ] but consider these numbers for Detour: Budget: $30,000 (estimated) Filming Dates: 25 June 1945 - 30 June 1945 someone writing a noir-ish script could learn a lot from Detour |

It's a comedy of that era, and no one seems to talk about it much anymore, but "Born Yesterday" is just brilliant. Losing Judy Holliday was a real tragedy.
