The math on this hand...
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
BB ($59) UTG ($215.33) Button ($233.69) Hero ($274) Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $1. UTG calls $2, Button calls $2, Hero (poster) completes, BB checks. Flop: ($8) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $7</font>, BB folds, <font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $20.33</font>, Button calls $20.33, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $75</font>, UTG calls $193 (All-In), Button folds, Hero calls $138.33. Turn: ($454.99) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font> River: ($454.99) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font> Final Pot: $454.99 Results in white below: <font color="#FFFFFF"> UTG has 8c 7c (straight, ten high). Hero has Ks Js (high card, king). Outcome: Hero wins $454.99. </font> On the flop after my bet, opponent's raise, and button's call, there is $55 in the pot. It would be about $206 more to put UTG all-in. If UTG calls the all-in and button folds, there is $193 + $55 = $248 in the pot with me having to call $206. So the math: My hand vs his str8, I will win 46%, lose 54% according to pokerstove. (.46)(+248) - (.54)(-206) = +$2.84 Do you guys always put it all-in here? I'm just getting started with analyzing my hands using the math. Would be great if anyone could help with it. |

Re: The math on this hand...
your EV calculation is a bit off (but the correct answer is well in your favor)
you're calling $138.33 to win everything already in the pot: +UTG's $193 +Button's $20.33 +your $82 already in on the flop +$8 from preflop =$300ish So, .46*(+$300ish)+.54*(-$138ish) = definitely +EV As far as the actual hand played out, I think you played it fine given button's coldcall. Just calling the raise would be fine too. |

Re: The math on this hand...
HE did that ev calc with only him against a str8, what about if he had a hand like TT, where hero could hit a Q or Spade on turn but get nullified by the river boat.

Re: The math on this hand...
it puts more money in the pot and gets more respect for your raise.
