argh im 78th out of 118 blinds still 100 200 when this hand came up. 150 buy in tourney

my read on the villain : I did see him once make a big overpush into a pot with middle pair and then played very conservatively as a huge stack. He had been playing fairly normal but just lost a big pot and was now an average stack.

I think one of the worse things you can do is call an overpush with a marginal hand. so i probably screwed up any thoughts.

Which brings up a question - why are we not raising preflop?

i was actually looking to limp reraise due to awkward stack size.
i dont think im laying this down if i raise it on the button preflop.
BB is pretty aggressive so i think if getting more fold equity with a reraise.

When he has AT - you're doomed to go broke on that board no matter the line.

It's those times he checks his worthless 36o preflop and HELLO BOTTOM TWO...

You effectively giving him not one but 3 free cards...

in fairness to myself
i would have probably lost the hand anyway had i raised preflop.
since i held A 9 and he held A 10 i dont think its unrealistic to beleive he could have made the same play with A 7 A 8.
Also it was not a huge overpush of my stack pot was 1700ish bet was 2800.
i probably fold it next time but there are a few points in favor of the call. i generally dont call overpushes because there will probably be an opportunity to win a big pot with less risk

what i dislike about this board is everyone wants to pick apart something not really relevant to the hand.

there are meta reasons and stack size reasons not to raise here. my results are fine.

no one answers the direct question would they call on the turn.

I'd like a fold, but I may call too though. Mood / weather dependent. 25% fold 75% call, something like that.
