$22 - Keep getting called and can\'t put opponent on hand
By the time the river came I had no choice but to call his all in since it was relatively small in size. I had no idea the whole time what the opponent could have. Any ideas on what he could have or on my play (besides betting higher on the turn)?

He could have had a flush draw (which got there), straight draw, pair of 4's, smaller overpair, A2...just push the turn.

I think that early on the button you can limp with 99... try and hit your set and get out otherwise. If you had done that then you couldve made smaller bets and found out if you were beat for cheaper. Also.... the bet on the turn wasn't gonna make him fold. I probably would've gone all in or just checked since there were three hearts out there. Tough situation though... I have no idea what he could've had

No real point in worrying about this hand, nothing you could do

Re: $22 - Keep getting called and can\'t put opponent on hand
I discounted the flush with the odds I gave him, but should have been a little more cognitive of it. He actually didn't have a flush at the end which was either a good read on my part or luck.

Re: $22 - Keep getting called and can\'t put opponent on hand
OP,
A couple questions out of curiousity: from the button at this level, are you raising QQ-AA to 180? How about 77-88? 22-66? You've got perfect position, so raising to 180 isn't going to make your postflop decisions much more difficult than raising to 120ish, but you're giving your opponents a great chance to make less mistakes. If UTG is limping with a marginal hand, then raising to 180 is likely going to give him the chance to let go of his hand. If you raise less, he might call and he might not, but he's going to make mistakes more often than if you raise to 180. same even goes for MP villain. I'm not saying you always want them to call, but you're making it easy for better hands to get more chips from you and weaker hands to get away. zip |

Re: $22 - Keep getting called and can\'t put opponent on hand
zipppy, thanks for the response. I would have bet maybe 4 or 5x the BB with QQ+ for value. The 6x BB raise was to isolate against one player. 88 and below I would probably just limp.
In hindsight, I agree that the raise pf was a bit much with a mid pair. Anyways, not to whine but he had 62s. |
