very common situation that is uncomfortable
3 handed, button raises, you call in bb with QJ.
Flop Qxx, you checkraise, he calls. Turn A. What's the plan, and what factors are you considering here? |

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
If I can trust him I would bet the turn. If I cant I would check/call.

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
If he is like a maniac I'd check/call turn river. If he is more reasonable I'd bet/call turn and check/call river.

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
What about check call check fold vs. solid players, and check call check call against everyone else?
Also the rest of the board matters too i suppose. |

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
Part of it depends on how aggressive your opponent is, how likely they are to raise the turn without an ace.
3-handed I'm showing this down probably 95% of the time. Sometimes check/calling turn, and donking the river. Sometimes leading the turn. Less frequently check/calling turn and river. |

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
Maniac will fire with anything but is less likely to be helped by that card then good player (since his preflop raising range is so much wider). Good player will much more frequently have broadway cards, a mid pair, and (unfortunately) an ace so he may get stubborn and call our turn bet with a showdownable hand we beat and/or semibluff raise. The maniac will bluff raise the turn too but I just think its less likely he has a hand that can continue on that board and will often give up when you show so much strength with two broadway cards on the board, but will fire desperately if you give him some rope. The good player will play more correctly vs you when you check to him on the turn (taking free cards when he has a draw, possibly checking behind and trying to show down a mid-pair cheaply, and value betting all better hands).

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
I think this is player dependent.
I bet/fold against a tight/weak player. I bet/call down against a showdown monkey. I check/call down against a TAG. |

Re: very common situation that is uncomfortable
What u are saying is that maniac will bet more often then good player (and w worse hands) if we check but raise less often then good player if we bet (since he got worse hands) and give up more often if we bet then good player. First part I agree on, but 2nd part I dont know. Many maniacs - if they got position in stealbattle - will raise somewhere w any pair and they will never give up w any piece of board.
How to play the good player got a lot to do with how he thinks we play. And I got to go to bed, so I cant discuss that now. |
