Default CPU Usage at 100%

I recently made a post about getting more RAM to help my multitasking / multitabling on my PC. I have 1 GB of RAM now and my comp still gets laggy after a while. I guess the problem has is something with my CPU usage. It maxes out at 100% pretty quickly while I'm playing poker and I think this is the problem. What can I do to stop this? Thanks

Buy a new computer with duo core processor.

I have run into the same trouble. Party has seriously ramped up the CPU usage on their last couple of updates.

I have a 2.4ghz Pentium with a gig of ram.

I am waiting for Intel to come out with the Core2 for laptops. Then I'm buyin

In the meantime I have moved PT onto a remote computer which has cut the load in half, buying me more time.

I'm sure you've already done this, but I'd do two things....

A full virus scan on your pc and run a couple spyware/adware tools like Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware.

I'm sure you know this, but make sure that PT is set to NOT auto-rate yourself. I didn't know this for a long time and my PT cpu usage was cut in half after I unchecked that option.

Just a couple random thoughts.

Yeah, I've tried those two already. I think it's time for a new computer. BTW I'm currently using an AMD 2000+ I believe, which is like 1.1 ghz.

if you go to task manager and look at the process tab.
Click the cpu collum click once is accending twice is decentind, so it sorts by CPU percent and find out which process is eating your CPU time. Then it will be easier to fix.

let me know

Pin the party monster jp counters to the tables and they won't eat all your cpu.

If you are running firefox, firefox is a memory whore. I have seen the memory usage climb to over 300megs of memory used. If you been using that, try closing it out and see if the CPU levels drop.
