Default filling a hole

i continue to find myself in this position in the lower limit game.

I'll be one off the button or two off the button and raise to 3x with AQ and the button calls...puttiing me out of position.

Two players.

Flop hits my Q and no other apparent danger or draws on board and I bet a half or 3/4 sized bet and he calls.

Turn comes and usually puts some sort of draw on the board so I fire in another half pot bet and he calls again.

Then the river comes with no danger card. If he was drawing he missed.

What do i do.

Too often if I check, I get a big bet into me. Also too ofter if I make a bet, I get a reraise into me.

Am I looking at a flopped two pair there ? Flopped set ?

I mean, he didn't seem too concerned about the danger the turn brought if he did have a made hand.

Am I just playing this all wrong ?

1/2 pot bets and then a river check generally dont appear too strong.

Obviously I agree, and perhaps I wasn't clear.

I didn't mean to imply that I often check...that was a bad choice of words. If I check I expect to get played back at, and that's often the case. Althought sometimes the dude has a weak Q and just checks.

Typically I made a bet on the end. Usually the same size as the preceeding bet.

If I get reraised...am I dead ?

High varience to play TP type hands out of position.

I will try to assess the villains to the left of me at all times for this very reason. Always on the lookout for playahs that think #2 pair is OK to take to the river. These guys I will bet like you did...maybe ¾- PSB on turn with a half pot on river.

Most every other type of villain gets the flop PSB and then ck/call down to reasonable sized bets. OOP sux the Big Wahzoo.
