This is a few days old, but mad dog once again proves he's an idiot.

Re: Brian Cashman vs. Mike and \"the moron\" Mad Dog show
Heh. Pretty standard Chris Russo though, getting in a screaming match. It's amazing how Mike and the Mad Dog are more or less unbearable solo. Normally Mike would be there as a buffer. I don't think Francesca is particularly smarter than Mad Dog, though. They are both very knowledgable about personnel but they both have questionable logic skills.
Cashman played it exactly right. By going back at Chris, he knows Chris doesn't take offense, in fact he respects it. And the players respect him more for defending them, for whatever that's worth. |

Re: Brian Cashman vs. Mike and \"the moron\" Mad Dog show
Russo is an idiot. Cashman is of course, awesome. He handled that interview pretty much perfectly. When people criticize him for all the overpaid deadweight on the team, I don't think they realize that until very recently there were other factions in the organization with tons of control. When Cashman was told "we have all this money, go out and spend it so we have a championship team", saying "Um, I'm not going to utilize that, instead I'll pass on these overpriced deals" is not really an option. He would have gotten killed when the Yankees came close to winning but needed that one extra player. For example, turning down pretty much any kind of deal for RJ would have gotten him crucified. Only when he threatened to leave for real did Big Stein aquiesce and guarantee he would be calling the shots like a real GM. When he is asked in an interview "What about all those [censored] signings" he really can't say "Well that was [those people's] fault, I didn't have much of a choice but to spend tons", it would not be tactful.
The best part was when Russo criticized Abreu for "not being a winner" "Don Mattingly never won anything, was that his fault?" "Mattingly hit 52 doubles! Abreu has never had a season like that!!" |

I guess it's the mix of genes he got. And his handling of the interview has no correlation on his being or not being dumb. |

wow, could you be any stupider?
yeah, how could a conversation about baseball tell you anything about whether a GM is smart or dumb? i have no idea>!>!>??! feel free to start pointing out the bad moves he has made instead of being intentionally dense. |

And yet, depending on who is talking, either at YES or the Yankees, there are two schools of thought about the future of the YES/FAN simulcast relationship. One is all about economics. If YES suits can cut a financial deal that makes sense, they will continue the simulcast. Still, some in the organization are tired of Russo's anti-Yankee rants. The Cashman interview could be the last straw. |
