What the hell is it with these guys? Why play all hands if...
You're just going to check it down?
Note, there is no JP elligible here. I could maybe see it if that were the case. Anyways... "I don't chop." No biggie. This guy overexplains to me he's not trying to be an A-Hole by doing this and that it's not personal, blahdy blah blah. This after I told him I was fine with it twice as he explained himself twice before. Then a hand comes up, I bet into him on the turn after the flop checks, and he comments how he was going to check it down. Well, in that case, why the hell play? Maybe he thinks I'll fold my SB to him a few times... I've seen this quite a few times where this happens. They say they don't chop, then you watch the next 3 streets get checked. The non-chopper in position. God, it's kinda pathetic to watch. Maybe they just say it because it sounds cool to say. Personally, I love it when these guys do this. But it makes you really wonder what they're reasoning is. Cya b |

Probably because they had to chop Aces once.

Dude! Jackpots!!!1!
Related: Recently a guy to my right raised/3bet/capped every hand preflop. Needless to say, he wouldn't chop. Even HE found it needless to say - he simply raised when it was folded to him in the SB. So I won about 10 BB off him in blind battles. |

[/ QUOTE ] But they've gotta have some reason for it. Many of these guys will chop in smaller games, but after the limit gets to 'X' amount, then they don't chop. I may have to ask one of them sometime. Though it might be a delicate conversation. b |

I think the reason to not chop in bigger games is that the effect of the rake is much less. In a $2/4 game, the rake can be be $5 if there is a $4 rake and a JP drop. Over a full big bet is taken out. In a $15/30, the same drop is 1/6 of a big bet.

They have to be consistent in that they never chop. But right then and there the other blind is an opponent they'd rather not mess with, or a "friend" with whom he soft-plays.

Imo, it kind of defeats the purpose of not chopping. b |

On a nittier note, what I always want to say (but never have) is that I will chop when I'm SB but not when I'm BB.
