Default Differences between hold em and stud

I was wondering if some one could point me in the direction of reading about the dif in the two games. or maybe give me some info here. people say hold em is the more advanced game but it seems like stud can be a very tough game as well. anyway thanks for the info.

Jordie,

Check out Mason's Poker Essays books (the first two) for good writings on different skills required in stud v. hold em.

IMHO, It doesn't matter. What matters is the level of your competition. If everyone that plays HE sucks, than hold em will be easier, and vice versa.

I believe they are both great games, though.

Stud gives you a lot more information to work with. Whether or not that is a good thing is debatable .

Good players have more info in stud and one extra big bet street to get paid.

On the other hand, dominating situations are rarer in stud than in he -- good players have opponents drawing to 2 or 4 outs less often. More common are situations where whoever makes a second pair wins.

Hold'em is a game of high cards and kickers; stud is a game of live cards and kickers.

I agree with most of this statement except when there always 5-7 chasers as normally one of them gets lucky and the other losers tend to end up paying each other off. Whilst you play good hand and have disproportionate number of bad beats.

You know a game where there are 5-7 chasers? Please PM me where that is ASAP so I can play there. Don't tell anyone else.

Simplistic as it may sound, I always thought that the fish are at the HE tables.
