Yes, because only Americans cheat and/or take drugs.

Although I do agree that a lot of people will believe he is/was clean, even if it looks like the tests are solid and fair. But again, not so much an American thing as a human thing in denying what you simply don't want to believe.

Maybe American don't realize that there are countries where doping is much more controlled than in the us.
In these countries athletes have to tell in advance where they will train so that a drug test can be done without warning anytime.
This considerably limits the possibility of using drugs.
