Prison time or flee the country?
Whats the minimum amount of prison time you would have to face before fleeing the country became a better option for you?
Obviously fleeing the country would be almost anyone's automatic option if facing more than 20 years. Lets say you can access 100k in cash and nothing more. Would you take your chances on the lamb or would you do 5 years in prison? For me I think my break even point would be roughly 2 years. I'm 5 foot 11 and I weigh 135, so I would be utterly screwed in prison. There's no way I could defend myself against anyone. This is a hypothetical question. I'm not facing any prison time. |

Re: Prison time or flee the country?
Let's say I was arrested, and sentenced for 2 years in prison. I don't wanna do that crap so decide to post my bail and flee. Could I live in like England, or somewhere somewhat american like country without any problems?

Re: Prison time or flee the country?
I would like to think that if I were of a mind to commit a felony, I would be going down in a bullets-and-gunsmoke blaze of glory, rather than end up with some tedious legal process.

Unless you're a real badass, if you ever actually find yourself in this situation, you'll realize that fleeing the country isn't really an option. Trust me.

Re: Prison time or flee the country?
First, I have a serious girlfriend, but no kids or anything.
I'd flee the country for anything over 6 months, I think, especially given the $100k. I'm not a homeowner, I'm unemployed... the only thing really keeping me here is said gf. Since the costs of leaving are so low, it wouldn't take much prison time to induce me to flee. |

These countries have extradition treaties with the U.S., so you're pretty much going to want to avoid them. |

Re: Prison time or flee the country?
it depends on the type of prison i would be sent to. minimum security prison i wouldnt consider it but maximum i might have to for anything over 5-8. id probably ask for solitary or some [censored] like that.

Re: Prison time or flee the country?
give me liberty or give me death -
literally - I'd off myself before going to prison - fleeing is def. preferable, probably to Southeast Asia. less then a yr. in a country club prison like the kind white collar criminals go to is acceptable however - but if you're not a friend of the rich and famous yer usually at the state pen. Screw that. rb |
