Hefeweizen beer
I wanted to get some of this beer. Wiki says Sam Addams makes some - not sure which one though. It might be SA's Summer Ale. I figured a beer guru in OOT would know.

Re: Hefeweizen beer
I'm pretty sure it's called Samuel Adams Hefeweizen.

Re: Hefeweizen beer
I think what you are after is Weiss bier ("wheat beer")? Hefe means that it is not as dark as "dunkel". Hoegaarden is a decent weiss bier. Erdinger makes hefe, kristall and dunkel weiss bier.

I'm pretty sure it's called Samuel Adams Hefeweizen. [/ QUOTE ] That would make it simple. The SA site is kind of lame, so maybe I missed it. According to Wiki, all the yeast is not filtered out to be a true hefeweizen beer. |

Re: Hefeweizen beer
Pyramid FTW. Pyramid is by far the best hef I've had.

Re: Hefeweizen beer
There are a couple threads on wheat beers in the alcohol (Mod Playground) forum. IMO, there are German wheat beers, and then there are other wheat beers. The latter can't compete with the former, for reasons ranging from yeast strains used to the shape of the fermenters used. A decent German weizen that should be available anywere is Paulaner.
Anyways, check out the booze forum. |

Re: Hefeweizen beer
some good ones: hacker-pshorr (sp?), flying dog's in heat wheat, shiner hefeweizen, any local brewery's summer brew (90% are some sort of unfiltered wheat ale, some have some fruity themes), weihenstephan is awesome, paulaner is almost as good, and widmer is like the bud light of hefeweizens. i've had the SA but forgot what it was like. augustiner weissbier was probably the best i've ever had, but that's just a brag.
when you pour it into a glass, save the last little bit in there, and swirl it around the bottom, to get all the sediment, then pour it in. |

Re: Hefeweizen beer
I'm personally not fussy on hacker-pschorr. I find it undeveloped in flavour and it is too much like a pilsner for me.
I love paulaner - I think it's a good standard for comparison in white beers. Hoegaarden is good, but I only really like it on tap, not in the bottle. I was indifferent to Pyramid, but I only had it once. Don't let my opinion stop you from trying it, but I wouldn't rush out to get any. Schneider Weisse Original is another standard - I like it with a good curry or similar meal. You might also like the Schneider & Son Aventinus. It is similar in character to the Weisse, but darker. I really enjoy it. |

Re: Hefeweizen beer
I'm not a big fan of Sam Adams Hefeweizen. Get Franziskaner or Paulaner.
