Default Weed Killer

Im about to venture into my first money making idea,

i have found a guy who is selling his business to someone else and is trying to sell his stock to liquidate. His company makes organically certified, non-poison weed killer.
The company he is selling to is only going to be selling it in commercial quantities so he is selling all his retail stock.

The 1 litre bottles sell in the local hardware shop for 10 dollars a bottle, and i can buy it off him for $1 dollar a bottle.
Ive never been involved with any running and business and i figure this would be a good opportunity to learn about marketing and selling, with presumably little risk and a fairly good return,

All i need to do now is figure out how to sell 1000 bottles of weed killer

What does everyone think?

I work for a pesticide / fungicide company. First off almost every state has different regulatory laws and you have to get registered individually which is time consuming and costly. You need to have a good undestanding of regulatory affairs. Also retailers who sell for $10 are buying for <$3 and aquiring shelf space is extremly difficult, even with an established name and a proven 6-7 figure advertising budget they may not even meet with you. Regardless of being "organic" or not, you are selling a poison that kills things it's a very difficult business. The reality is everyone in this business makes the majority of their money from commercial applications, retail does not only have smaller margins but opens you up for huge liabilities if some idiot sprays it in his eye or his kid drinks it, especially when it's labbeled non-toxic, yikes. Ask yourself how can something that kills something else not be at least somewhat toxic?

You can tap dance around regulations etc by selling on eBay. Market it to hippies that dont want to "poison the earth"
