Default Am I committed to call in this big blind? Party $109 in the money

23 players left. Blinds are 3k/6k-a100. I have 15.6k and 63s after posting the big blind. Biggest stack at my table is 80k and the next smallest (other than me) is 32k.

A guy w/ 78k opens to 20k in the cutoff and the small blind pushes all-in for 13k more.

Should I call here?

I think I probably call here because I can't imagine either one of their ranges is strong enough where you are any worse than a 3:1 dog here.

Next time, don't let yourself get so damn short!

After screwing around with poker stove, I'd say you need 3.5:1 or better. You're getting like 3.9, so I'd call.

I think there are spots where this would be a fold because of bubble considerations, though. Like if there were 19 left and most stacks were much bigger than you but a few extreme shorties.

Yeah.. did you lose your chips last hand? With < 3.5 BBs UTG, I‘m pushing any two in most spots because the blind kills your FE.

OK, I just got PokerStove (I know, I know), so I'm gonna try it out here.

Any reads at all? It would be especially helpful to know how long SB has been short, and what he did on his BB the hand before.

Without that, I'm giving the CO a wide range to open. Say any pair, any broadway. Thoughts on that range? I don't think he's opening junk too much, since one or both of you will call often.

For the SB, with the 3k he's got in and the wide range of CO and your 6k, he has to have a wide range also. I said any pair, any ace, any broadway, suited kings down to K5, suited queens to Q8, suited connectors down to 76s, and offsuit kings and queens down to 9.

Against that range you have 24% equity. You will be calling 15,600 to win 44,500 (9900 to start, 20K from CO, 13K from SB, plus the 1600 that CO will have to call if you push).

You aren't quite getting 3:1. It would be -cEV, but slightly. However, given a standard payout, it may be +$EV, since you will go much deeper after a win than you will if you fold here with your M of 1.6. Also, there will be a few times that you lose to SB but beat CO and will still be marginally alive. Even if that happens, you will usually finish 22nd anyway, but not always.

I would call.

Wait.. did SB push for 13k more on top of the SB (16k total) or 13k more on top of the pfr (33k total)?

No I lost a big flip in my last big blind to get down to 10k, then I doubled up on the next hand in my SB v the BB. Then I never got a chance to open a pot and unfortunately had to keep waiting...

The cutoff had to call 13k more.
