Default CPA or no CPA, but then what???

Hi OOT:

I am going through a dilemna in my life that has confused me to no end. I am 29 years old and I work for a CPA firm. I do not have my CPA designation. I took the exam a few times without studying and came close to passing, but never got the required 75.

Now I find myself in a situation where I need to sheet or get off the pot. I am not sure if I want to continue with a career in accounting or do something different. I think working for someone else has really begun to bother me.

Any advice on how to move forward? I have been thinking of buying a liquor store and running that until I find something wothwhile. Is that a terrible idea? If so, what would be a better one?
