NFC Championship: SEA (-4.5) vs. CAR
Does that strike anyone else as ridiculously low, especially with Foster's status questionable?

No, I thought it'd be 3. Why would Foster's status affect anything?

Re: NFC Championship: SEA (-4.5) vs. CAR
I dunno, it seems right to me. I was thinking it'd be between 4.5 and 5.5 (i.e., strictly between the semi-key numbers 4 and 6), so this seems reasonable.

Re: NFC Championship: SEA (-4.5) vs. CAR
Seattle has a great run defense, but Carolina was still able to run the ball with Goings against Chicago's stout run D (which got a little banged up later in the game, that may have been part of it), even after Foster left the game. Even if Goings gets hurt, Hoover's had a few 100+ yard games in his career, it's a drop off, but it's not like they don't have other experienced options at RB (like Morris against the Skins after Alexander went down). Unlikely they'll be one-dimensional against Seattle unless something wierd happens.
I'm surprised it wasn't more like 3 points given Alexander's concussion and the fact that Seattle looked pretty shaky against the Skins. Good for them Portis, Brunell and the Skings O-line was banged up and downright awful at times (anyone else see that backup Right Guard getting played down after down by whoever he was attempting to block?). Play like that and lose the turnover battle by 2 against Carolina, and they may lose by a TD+ (which probalby won't happen, but although Hasselback stepped up in the 2nd half, that was a sloppy game against a beat up & inferior opponent). Be interesting to see how the injuries do shake out in this one heading into Sunday (Foster, Julius Peppers, Alexander, etc.). If Carolina keeps that collective positive belief going and Seattle hits a little adversity early in the game, watch out. Hard to believe anyone's going to "out-passion" Carolina in this one, even in Seattle. Talk about playing with a collective chip on your shoulder. |

Re: NFC Championship: SEA (-4.5) vs. CAR
Nick Goings stepping in for Deshaun Foster is almost a non issue besides the possible fatigue Goings will underdgo. Goings gets to the outside faster and hangs on to the football better than Foster. They are interchangable, besides Foster beings less surehanded but probably tougher to bring down.
