100NL - how bad did I butcher this JJ
Villian is fairly new, played like 20 hands and hasn't seen many flops. So I don't know much about him. I called the flop bet with the intention of calling reasonable bets, but villian's aggression surprised me, but I ended up calling anyways.

If you make a bad read, you make a bad read. But, when you start going against reads, and second guessing yourself, that's when trouble creeps in. As played, I'd definitely fold the river. However, I think you need to push or fold on the turn, and I'm leaning towards fold given what you described. |

Re: 100NL - how bad did I butcher this JJ
Looks like UTG hit his set. He limps early, calls a pfr knowing he has implied odds. Then on the flop he checks to the preflop raiser, and checkraises you for an amount that for him is pot-committing, leaving him with only a psb behind afterward.
Good time to lay down the overpair. |

Some villains are capable of mixing it up here, so I'd watch him, but without a read I just can't imagine a pair is any good here. |

would you have folded if he pushed the turn? because as played it cost you the same to get to showdown and you let him see five cards.

Re: 100NL - how bad did I butcher this JJ
A flop c/r is a real kick in guts, but I often tell myself he's a fool for chasing me out so early and minimising his winnings. So I fold almost to spite him. Let him think: I should have just called with my set/TT.
Another possibility is that the guy is taking on your c-bet, in which case he has balls and sometimes you just get outplayed. Overall, I'm hoping my thought process when he rr's the flop would be something like: "Ok, I only have JJ - a hand that'll perhaps cost me more money over time when overplayed than any other. Villain has shown loads of strength. Sod it, let it go. I'll keep an eye on villain and see if I can pick a better spot to exploit his toughguy routine." |

Re: 100NL - how bad did I butcher this JJ
Ok, either push this scary board or fold. Calling is the worst IMO.
There was a very similar hand played by a msnl guy on a 100NL video. He pushed, saying that u'll be ahead enought times. I agree with him. |

Does your guys' lines differ if you have, say, AA?

Smells like set or A9. Must fold on river. If you are putting him all in, it better be on a push on the flop.
