Is this the Aruba chick?

I don't care anymore. It only made the news because it was an American citizen in Aruba anyway. If she'd gone missing in Missouri, it wouldn't have even made the wires. Does anybody really care anymore?

This whole story completely baffled me. Not the mystery itself, but the CONSTANT MEDIA COVERAGE ON EVERY STATION EVERY DAY. Is there seriously no better news to report (or I suppose, do people not care about more important stories) than a single missing American out of the 300 million? It just really angers me that it seems like we'd get 45 minutes or more out of every hour devoted to this story when so many actually important things were happening worldwide.

Can someone explain to me what the complete infatuation with this news story came from? Or is it just selective memory of some sort and it wasn't as bad as I remember it?

She was a hot white teenager from a well off family that was raped and murdered. The news stations survive on BS overhyped stories like this.

(I'm not saying this wasn't tragic, but it has no relevance to 99% of america)

It is for the same reason that you have all heard of Modesto, CA. Pretty girl from well off family, makes a great story for a 24 hour news network. You think Fox news gives it this much coverage if it was a lower class black girl from Compton? Even with the exact same circumstances, the coverage would have stopped two days after the disappearance. I firmly believe this.

This Holloway thing is a global tragedy. I tried explaining it to some guy but he didn't seem to care too much. He said he was from Darfur...I think thats in Ohio or something. Must not have cable.

She put herself in a very bad spot and therefore a lot of bad things happened to her. No human should ever have to go through this, but part of it is her fault. Nobody ever says anything about this.
