Default Hong Kong

I am heading to Hong Kong soon, perhaps indefinitely. Has anyone lived there before? Are there any really cool things to do that tourists dont know about? I am not single.

Also, I want to buy a ton of Chinese DVDs, like all of Yimu Zhangs movies and Ziyi Zhangs movies and Steven Chow and a ton of other movies. If I walk into a DVD shop, should I expect to be able to find most of these movies, some of them are X years old, or should I only expect to find the more popular/recent movies?

Does anyone know what the Visa deal is for US Citizens? I understand that you get a free Visa on arrival in HK, but what about going to mainland China?

I haven't been to Honk Kong since the changeover so I don't know how different it is...I wouldn't want to give you out of date info... but it is an amazing city...

You'll be able to find the DVDs...however, they will naturally be in one of the Chinese languages and not dubbed or subtitled.

When I went to China, we flew into Hong Kong and then through the checkpoints into China. You do have to get a visa. I belive even the Hong Kong residents have to get some sort of clearance. The ones that live in one place & work in the other get these special little ID cards so they can go back & forth. Contact the Chinese embassy about the Visa.

All of these Chinese DVDs on Ebay have English subtitles. When were you there last?

And oh yeah, any sexy porn stories Dom?

You don't need a VISA and can stay for 3 months but if you want to get into China you need one. You can get VISA at the Airport for $700HKD (I think) which is about $100US within the day.

There are about a million stores where you can get pretty much any DVD's new/old/illegal/legal. A lot of chain stores like HMV and independent shops with the copies.

What kind of non-tourist stuff are you looking for? I just like wandering around aimlessly with friends, it's a really beautiful city. There are a lot of great places to eat at and great dessert places.
