That is strange. If he hit a jack why wouldn't he check-raise? I call down.

Because he didn't want to give a free card to the potential straight draw on the board?

I dont think I would 3-bet preflop unless I knew MP2 was a weak LAG that I could outplay postflop and its likely to be heads up. If Im not reraising preflop, I think Im folding. Flop bet is fine. Turn I just fold. You arent getting odds to draw to you gutshot and your 9's are likely tainted. If you do call the turn, whats your plan for a blank river, which is basically anything that isnt a T. I think folding the turn avoids a rather ugly river situation especially since we are likely behind.

Well, this is a scary board for trip jacks - diamond draw, straight draw, and there's no guarantee that hero is going to bet in his mind - hero's flop bet could very well have been a c-bet with unimproved overs. If I were villain I'm definitely betting trip jacks here on the turn.

Does this mean that he has trip jacks? Not necessarily. But I think there's a pretty good possbility.

I'd lean towards folding here.

Sorry only 20 hands or so but 3-betting a mid-position raiser with 99 is not so unusual?
