Default U.S. World Cup roster named

Hope this isn't a duplicate thread. I wasn't on the boards last night when it was announced, and I couldn't find a thread on it this morning. If there's already a thread, someone please direct me to it.

The only decision I have really strong feelings about it is favoring Brian Ching over Taylor Twellman. If Twellman's performance didn't earn himself a spot on the roster, then I'm not sure what coach Arena is looking for. And Ching has been a liability more often than not when I've seen him play for the national team, failing to convert some pretty easy chances.

John O'Brien is a risk with his injuries, but I think his performance in 2002 justifies his selection.

Here's the team:

Goalkeepers
-----------
Kasey Keller
Tim Howard
Marcus Hahnemann

Defenders
---------
Carlos Bocanegra
Steve Cherundolo
Jimmy Conrad
Cory Gibbs
Frankie Hejduk
Eddie Lewis
Oguchi Onyewu
Eddie Pope

Midfielders
-----------
DaMarcus Beasley
Bobby Convey
Clint Dempsey
Landon Donovan
Pablo Mastroeni
John O'Brien
Ben Olsen
Claudio Reyna

Forwards
--------
Brian Ching
Eddie Johnson
Brian McBride
Josh Wolff

I've never been a huge Convey fan. I always thought he was a lot of hype, and never quite performed up to it with the big boys. Granted, I haven't seen him play at all since he moved overseas.

Brian Ching over Taylor Twellman is pretty awful.

Brian Ching is an interesting choice. He went to my wife's high school and was in the same graduating class I think. I'm not completely sold on him being better than Twellman though.

Agree with this. Also, tough leaving Ralston off the squad. Not sure he would replace, though.

I hate that Twellman isn't on the team. He just produces.

This was my first thought too, he may not be as much of as physical presence as Ching but he's a great scorer, I dont see how he keeps getting left off. Maybe it cause they already have their scorers and Ching is there to bring some size off the bench, but I still like Twellman.

As a side note, Kasey Keller is just sick.

Whatever happened to Friedel? Did he just not want to be the backup?
