Default won at one level, down at the next

Hi I was playing $0.50/$1 and was 6BB/100 hands up over about 1,500 hands so I decided to move up a level just to try out things. However, on the $1/$2 I'm now down 3BB/100 and I've lost all confidence in my plays.

Reckon it would be advisable to move down a level or is this just one of those things that you have to get used to in limit poker?

If anything the games were much more loose at the $1/$2 games.

Play more than 1500 hands. If you are up 6BB/100 within 50,000 hands you will move up with confidence and, more importantly, the required skill.

In order to see how good yo are you need at LEAST 30,000 hands at one level.

1,500 is still in the small range. A person can get good cards for 10,000 hands and then go belly up with bad beats for another 10,000.

.5/1 and 1/2 are way different games. Probebly thebiggest skill jump there is is online poker.

If I were you I would ALSWAYS be tipping my toe at higher levels but realize that short term (less then 10,000 hands) is all a lot of luck.

I know how you feel, I was only running at 1.3 bb for 190k hands at .5/1 so I took a shot at 1/2 and am running at 97 bb over 20 hands. Now I can't bring myself to ruin that stat!

Seriously. Play more hands at .5/1 to get your roll up. Analyze your 1/2 sessions and see what you were doing wrong. Try again later when your roll and confidence are up.

1500 hands on a level is nothing. Over my first 1500 hands on .1/.2 I was running at >11BB/100, the next 1500 were slightly negative. Read this post to see how confident you can be about your win rate.

Out of interest, how long does it take to play 30,000 hands ?!
It's definitely worth it though...

I think I 4 tabled about 40 hours last month and had a total of 11k hands. That wasn't playing very much though, I've had months over 30k hands before when I was playing a couple of hours every day 4 and 5 tabling.

There was some time between my trial period and the time I bought PT, so I am estimating (as I am at work) but I have played about 80k in 10 months.

AT the start I was fanatic about playing. 8-10 hours a day, 2-4 tables for 3 weeks straight. Then I burned myself out and played everyday for shorter periods of time. Lately I can go a couple days without playing. So .. again .. it depends on your perpensity for playing.
