Default Phone calls and dead hands

£1-£3 NLHE game. I'm in seat 4, villain is in seat 3. Villain bets £20 on the river, and right after betting answers the phone and starts talking. I have the nut straight, and make it £50 to play. Female dealer prompts villain to act, but he's distracted and just follows in his conversation and doesn't acknowledge her. She gets very, upset and yells at villain. I say to the dealer "easy, easy, there's no problem". Rules of the house are phone calls => dead hand.

What's my line if she kills villain's hand?

Muck your hand and say something about being glad the house enforces that rule.

1. Wonder why it took her so long to enforce the rules. Unless you think rules are only good when they make you money and should be ignored otherwise.

2. Leave your cellphone at home.

That's a bit harsh. What's wrong in trying to keep the hand alive? If the rule is in place to punish a player who's dissing the opponents, then isn't letting him play the hand and possibly lose more money a better punishment?

What's my cellphone got to do with anything??? I always switch it off as I sit down.

So if you were bluffing, you would scream at the dealer to kill his hand, right? The dealer is supposed to be a mind reader/psychic and enforce the rules based on 'maximum damage' to the transgressor?

She did her job. Which is to enforce the rules, not to make you the most money.

Introduce yourself to the Villain, get his phone number. You know the rest.
