Default Addressing the ball - sweet spot alignment

So I was on the range a few days ago and put some athletic tape on the face of my driver. I noticed that after a few swings I was typically making contact somewhere between the center of the face and the heel.

I started moving the ball more towards the toe at address ( I was previously setting up with the ball centered on the head), and of course I proceeded to hit the sweet spot with practically every swing.

I was wondering if there is anyone else that sets up with the ball not centered on the face and if this is a good thing to do, or am I trying to fix something that is broken with something else that is broken.

I've known very good players that addressed the ball on the heel, and very good players that addressed the ball on the toe.
If it's working for you, go with it!

If you tee the ball up reasonably high you should address the ball on the toe with the driver flat on the ground. If you lift the driver off the ground to impact height it will be more in the center.

I think this is excellent advice.

Zach Johnson and a few other pros set up their driver on the toe, IIRC.
