yes, game data including your login and password are encrypted on most online casinos including partypoker, fulltilt, stars.

Try tor if you're really paranoid.

[/ QUOTE ] I am no expert and you may well be right but I think OP is vulnerable to attack even though unlikely...Encryption is not aspirin. My suggestion is if the stay is short term then do not risk it but if longer and you absolutely must play then play. You do so at your own risk. I would not bother to play. |

Any time you are on a network you're not responsible for you can't be sure that it's secure. Chances are you will be fine but it's not 100%

[/ QUOTE ] I think so. My haxing days are long past but I believe the danger here is a 'man in the middle' attack. I think this could also be executed by the tor exit node (in addition to the wireless network). Any security experts here? |

Yeah, it's possible if the tor exit node is examining all packets it's receiving, at least from what I see from the docs. I'm guessing if possibly the encrypted username and password are sent together, the exit node could decrypt the contents. Anyone know what encryption schemes the major sites use?

[/ QUOTE ] I've never used Tor, but assuming it can provide an encrypted path for his packets take to its destination, then as long as the list of tor clients that it initially receives hasn't been compromised, then it would seem in theory he could send unencrypted traffic without having to worry at all (assuming that the tor exit node is legit). I also agree with the sentiment that you're really never 100% safe, but you can get pretty darn close. |
