Default How to avoid stacking off with middle set?

Maybe it's bad luck, but the 3 of the last 4 times I've flopped middle set, I've run into higher sets and just couldn't avoid stacking off. The lines have been pretty similar.

-Call a small p/f raise in any position with medium pair,
-hit my set (77, 88, etc)on rainbow, uncoordinated flop,
-c/r or or rr the flop
-raise turn (at which point we then go all in if we haven't already)

This has been against loose players and standard TAGs. Against a nit, I might consider folding an all in reraise behind my flop raise... but still, it's a set! How do I play things differently to avoid stacking off? I'm still steaming...

Thanks for any input

no.

And you don't want to get away from a set with less than 185BB behind.

So, basically you're going to risk your stack every time with less than 185BB? Is that based on the slim odds of running into a higher set? What is the math behind that?
Thanks

You run into an overset every approx. once every 60 times you flop a set.

I have no idea where that number comes from. Sounds kinda like when Sklansky said you should never lose more that 165BB with one pair........also not true. Actually this is a break-even prop long term.
