Hey gang.
I've made it to the second round of the interview process for a financial analyst position. I have no idea what to expect. Do any of you? Thanks, Mike |

It's a tech manufacturing firm in Silicon Valley.
I've (kind of) answered your question, want to answer mine? |

OP, typically the 2nd round is more of a fit thing where you get to ask more specific questions about the position and company. |

First round was 5-6 behavioral questions with a member of the finance department.
Second round is 4 half hour interviews with various finance people. My impression is that the second round is more of a "get to know you" sort of thing. I could be wrong tho. I'm gonna ask a few finance profs what I should expect. |

That's what the behavioral part was. 2nd round is more "how does this person think" (ie how would you go about solving a particular problem) and "what does he know". Not saying that they will all be technical questions where you have to rattle off a formula or something, but you definintely should have nothing but finance on the brain when you go into it. |

Beat: Heard back from them today, didn't get the job.
Beat: Today is also my birthday. Kind of a crappy way to celebrate. The most frustrating thing is that I really thought I did a good job. For those of you who are wondering, the recruiting event was an evening cocktail reception where we met everyone from the CFO to line finance folks. The next day, we had 4 1:1, half hour interviews, a tour of the facilities, lunch and closing comments. There were maybe 20-25 other people there. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. |
