beat: i lost my friggin phone (need recommendations)
brag: it was a motorola Q anyway a total piece of [censored] so [censored] it
What should I get for a phone, considering that I have Verizon and therefore can't just buy any old SIM card unlocked phone? Requirements: Some PDA functionality, would like it to be smallish/thin like the Q, doesn't crash 4396809438 times a day, Bluetooth/USB phone as modem capability, multimedia functions would be fine, don't care about price Thanks BBV I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] you |

I have the Q...but I'm to lazy to set up outlook, so it is just a phone/modem.

Re: beat: i lost my friggin phone (need recommendations)
You can't get anything like that on Verizon except the Q. There were some interesting handsets announced at the CTIA trade show this year, but the way that Verizon takes forever to get their products out the door means that you'll be waiting until Q3/Q4 to get your hands on anything. My best advice is to pony up the cash to cancel your Verizon contract and switch to Cingular/AT&T, where the prices will be pretty much the same but you will have better choices with your devices. Since you disliked your Q, I would try a Symbian handset like a Nokia E61, which matches your form factor/feature requirements. Basically, if money is no object, just cancel and go with a carrier that lets you use the phone you want.
hope this helps -Ty |

[ QUOTE ]
I just picked up the Treo 750. It's pretty sweet. The problem is that is runs Windows Mobile which I'm not a big fan of. You can get it unlocked, so it's no big deal what carrier you have. [/ QUOTE ] "Unlocked" just means that you can use whatever GSM carrier you choose. Verizon uses CDMA technology which means that they verify exactly what device you are on and have to activate each through customer service: there are no sim cards. |

Sorry, didn't realize that you were with Verizon. Sucks for you. They don't have many smart phones.

Re: beat: i lost my friggin phone (need recommendations)
What do you mean by "some PDA functionality"? Not trying to be a nit here. If I were in the market for a verizon phone, I'd get the Samsung u520. It has/will have MobileTV capability, and should fit the bill for most other applications. Screw paying $44.99 for data. If you want an actual PDA, you NEED to switch to sprint and get the pocket PC, which is an HTC product. Sprint is a superior carrier in most aspects, aside from customer service.
