Router trouble, Help please!
Hi,
I have a Linksys WRT54GS v1.1. Occationally something happens to it and my internet goes down for a while. Or until I restart it. I don't know why it is like this. But I'm wondering if the firmware I have installed on it, dd-wrt, could be to blame? I'm going to try to reinstall the original Linksys firmware, but I don't know how to do that. Does anyone know how I should do if I want to reinstall the original Linksys firmware? thanks |

Re: Router trouble, Help please!
I don't run dd-wrt, I run tomato on my WRT. Doesn't it have an Upgrade Firmware option in the web interface like all the others?
After installing a fresh firmware (especially 3rd party), run the option which resets it to factory defaults. Having settings left over from prior different firmwares can cause flakey problems. |

PS, this is a good site for the WRT/firmware stuff.

Re: Router trouble, Help please!
Thanks for the link. I didn't think of that.
It does have an upgrade Firmware option. I just wasn't sure if I could use that or if that would leave remains of my other firmaware. Thanks. Your help is much appreshiated! |

Re: Router trouble, Help please!
I had this same exact model in the past and it did the exact same thing. I tried upgrading firmware, even using alternate firmware, and nothing worked. I contacted Linksys support and they said it was a known issue, but I was out of warrantee. I ended up just replacing the modem and haven't had a problem since.
