Odds of AK being dealt as opposed to AA
The odds against being dealt AA are 220:1.
The odds against being dealt AK(suited or unsuited) are 82:1 (2/13 X 4/51 right?) So purely from a statistical basis, if someone re-raises all in they wil have AK aprox. three times for every one time that they have AA. True? Math done properly? |

So purely from a statistical basis, if someone folds pre-flop they will have folded AK aprox. three times for every one time that they folded AA. [/ QUOTE ] Surely you see why this is false. The original claim is no more valid. |

Re: Odds of AK being dealt as opposed to AA
Huh? BTW I mean basicly the odds of someone being dealt AA versus AK, as obviously strategy will alter the times someone pushes. I tried to get that across with the:
"purely from a statistical basis" |

Re: Odds of AK being dealt as opposed to AA
If someone reraises all-in every time they have either AA or AK, then they will have AK 2.67 times for every AA (which you might consider approximately 3 times).

Re: Odds of AK being dealt as opposed to AA
Does anyone ever think about this fact while playing and then decide to call with AK after a big raise in part due to this?

Re: Odds of AK being dealt as opposed to AA
You do realize that if you hold AK it now changes the probability that you are facing AK VS. AA. In this situation it does not change it much. If you have AK, your opponent pushes in front, he will only do this with AA or AK, then there are 3 combo's of aces left and 9 combo's of AK. So it is exactly three times as likely that he has AK then he has Aces.
Also if his pushing range is limited to AA or AK. Unless there is alot of dead money in the pot you will most likely either split the pot or lose. Cobra |

Does anyone ever think about this fact while playing and then decide to call with AK after a big raise in part due to this? [/ QUOTE ] this is only applicable if the villians range is ONLY AA and AK. and also that they would push ONLY with AA and AK. meaning that they never smooth call with AK, they never slow play AA, or they do it in the exact same proportion. |
