Okay, this is a little trivial, but I swear, every time I hear this song, which I like a lot, I think of Anacardo, and when I see him post, I sometimes think of this song. I'm really not sure why.
It's 'Gin-Soaked Boy' by The Divine Comedy (I've no idea if you've heard of it), but the lyrics are: I'm the darkness in the light I'm the leftness in the right I'm the rightness in the wrong I'm the shortness in the long I'm the goodness in the bad I'm the saneness in the mad I'm the sadness in the joy I'm the gin in the gin soaked boy The gin soaked boy... I'm the ghost in the machine I'm the genius in the gene I'm the beauty in the beast I'm the sunset in the East I'm the ruby in the dust I'm the trust in the mistrust I'm the Trojan Horse in Troy I'm the gin in the gin soaked boy The gin soaked boy... I'm the tiger's empty cage I'm the mystery's final page I'm the stranger's lonely glance I'm the hero's only chance I'm the undiscovered land I'm the single grain of sand I'm the Christmas morning toy I'm the gin in the gin soaked boy The gin soaked boy... I'm the world you'll never see I'm the slave you'll never free I'm the truth that you'll never know I'm the place you'll never go I'm the sound you'll never hear I'm the course you'll never steer I'm the will you'll not destroy I'm the gin in the gin soaked boy The gin soaked boy... I'm the half truth in the lie I'm the why not in the why I'm the last roll of the die I'm the old school in the tie I'm the spirit in the sky I'm the catcher in the rye I'm the twinkle in her eye I'm Jeff Goldblum in 'The Fly' Well who am I? |

Here's to the Losers - Frank Sinatra
Here's to those who love not too wisely, know not wisely, but too well To the girl who sighs with envy when she hears that wedding bell To the guy who'd throw a party if he knew someone to call Here's to the losers, bless them all Here's to those who drink their dinners when that lady doesn't show To the girl who'll wait for kisses underneath that mistletoe To the lonely summer lovers when the leaves begin to fall Here's to the losers, a-bless them all Hey, Tom, Dick and Harry, come in out of the rain Those torches you carry must be drowned in champagne Here's the last toast of the evening, here's to those who still believe All the losers will be winners, all the givers shall receive Here's to trouble-free tomorrows, may your sorrows all be small Here's to the losers, bless them all MUSICAL INTERLUDE Hey, Tom, Dick and Harry, come in out of that rain Those torches you carry must be drowned in champagne Here's the last toast of the evening, here's to those who still believe All the losers will be winners, all the givers shall receive Here's to trouble-free tomorrows, may your sorrows all be small Here's to the losers, here's to the losers, here's to the losers Bless them all! I hear it in my head often when I read someone's bad beat tale. |

Guess whose posts remind me of this one?:
As they pulled you out of the oxygen tent you asked for the latest party With your silicon hump and your ten inch stump Dressed like a priest you was, Todd Browning streak he was Crawling down the alley on your hands and knee, I'm sure you're not protected, for its plain to see Diamond Dogs are poachers, and they hide behind trees Hunt you to the ground they will, mannequins with kill appeal *chorus* Will they come? I keep a friend serene Will they come? Oh, baby, come unto me Will they come? Well, she's come, been, and gone Come out of the garden, baby You'll catch a death in the fog Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs The Halloween Jack is a real cool cat, and he lives on top of Manhattan Chase The elevators broke, so he slides down a rope onto the street below, oh Tarzie, go man, go Meets his little hussy with his ghost-town approach Her face is sans feature, but she wears a Dali broach Sweetly reminiscent, something mother used to bake Wrecked up and paralyzed, Diamond Dogs are sable-ized *chorus* Who-who-who Call them the Diamond Dogs Who-who-who Call them the Diamond Dogs Ahhh-whooo, ah Ah-owwww wuf-wuf In the year of the scavenger, season of the bitch Sashay on the board-walk, scurry to the ditch Just another future song, lonely little Keats There's gonna be sorrow, try and wake up tomorrow *chorus* Who-who-who Call them the Diamond Dogs Who-who-who Call them the Diamond Dogs Bow-wow, woof woof, bow-wow, wow Call them the Diamond Dogs Dogs Call them the Diamond Dogs Call them, call them Call them the Diamond Dogs Call them, call them, ooooo Call them the Diamond Dogs Keep cool Diamond Dogs, OK Hey-hey-hey-hey Beware of the Diamond Dogs Beware of the Diamond Dogs Beware of the Diamond Dog Beware of the Diamond Dog Dog, dog, dog Beware of the Diamond Dog |

These lyrics are very goofy when read without the music. But they do actually make me think of someone who used to post on the forums.
I would have given you all of my heart but there's someone who's torn it apart and she's taken almost all that I've got but if you want, I'll try to love again baby I'll try to love again but I know The first cut is the deepest, baby I know The first cut is the deepest 'cause when it comes to being lucky she's cursed when it comes to lovin' me she's worst but when it comes to being loved she's first that's how I know The first cut is the deepest, baby I know The first cut is the deepest I still want you by my side just to help me dry the tears that I've cried cause I'm sure gonna give you a try and if you want, I'll try to love again (did you know that Cat Stevens wrote it?) |

In many lil and big alike record store now is often possible to take a cd to the counter and ask to here it and sales manager or assistant will let you have short demo listen through head phones while stood at the counter. A tip I have recently learnt and do use plenty now as often was buying the wrong cd or seeing a cd where I did like one song but once taken home or listened to in the car did not especially enjoy one bit so am now able to save money from having demo listen at the counter. Many of the big bands who we all do know have just one song that makes them well known through the world. I say many of the bands because if I am to think Navana then the song is teen spirit if I am to think no doubt then the song is don't speak if I am to think babylon zoo then the song is spaceman if I am to think eminem then the song is stan if I am to think presidents of the usa then the song is peaches and if I am to think the rolling stones then the song is brown sugar. All this adds up to what we might call ANTHEMS is a song where a band is most famous known for just that one song sometimes band is known as one hit wonder if all they have ever made is the one song that is known like charles berkley crazy is often a poor musician who has got lucky the once but there are 2 bands that do make a exception to this rule the beatles and radiohead name a beatles song and people all come to a manner of conclusions here comes the sun I am the walrus maxwells silver hammer octopus garden rocky raccoon strawberry fields sgt pepper lonely heart club taxman yesterday see the list is endless? And is the same with radiohead karma police the bends paranid android pyramid song idiotek high and dry creep anyone can play guitar fake plastic trees and airbag. These are the 2 exception to the rule that I do point out so in conclusion as additive to original question yes always except for beatles and radiohead.

[ QUOTE ] if I am to think the rolling stones then the song is brown sugar. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. I can't think of any other Rolling Stones songs right off the top of my head. [/ QUOTE ] The song I immediately link to Rolling Stones is "Gimme Shelter" not only because of the great documentary called "Gimme Shelter" but also because Scorcese uses it many times (Casino, Goodfellas, The Departed). |
