so what are our options?
ok, as of the moment I'm in the US and am a US citizen. If I simply decide to move to another country, will I just be able to start playing again all of a sudden, or will I not be able to play b/c I'm a US citizen. Also, if we're a US citizen and we are allowed to play if we move somewhere else, will we owe taxes to the US govt? I'm planning on talking to a lawyer about all of this w/in the next 2-3 days, just looking for a quick answer if anyone's familiar with this stuff off top

Re: so what are our options?
You will be allowed to play if you LIVE in a different country. You will have to pay high taxes in all european countries though (I believe the rate is the highest in the scandinavian countries).I am taking into account that you will be allowed in the country of your choice depending on the BR, we have enough broke people here allready
If you are really interested pm me and I can set things up here in Amsterdam. For a normal appartement it will cost you around $700 a month, if you are prepared to live outside of Amsterdam it will only cost you like 300/400 dollars. But if you are really willing to move I assume you are making a decent amount of money and with Amsterdam being such a big tourist attraction it's great to still be able to see Americans and not having to learn a foreign language. You could also opt for England/London, but the prices there are just insane for everything, and I don't know if they are big fans of the U.S. It's a tad bit colder, and well you are on a island. No-Go's: France (maybe monaco if that's your thing), Spain, Portugal, Italy: you have to learn a different language, and I believe it's harder overall to get things done there. |

Re: so what are our options?
How good are other overseas options like Austrailia/New Zealand?

Re: so what are our options?
Australia is terrible to get a residence permit at, it's a beautifull country, but you don't want to be bothered to get that set up first (as in getting a job, finding someone marry her and then start playing poker again )

Re: so what are our options?
Is online gambling allowed in South-Africa, that sounds like a cheap and decent place to live though.

Re: so what are our options?
I doubt I'd consider moving until I get my degree, but it can't hurt to research options. Do you know anything about taxation in Italy? Also, about their rules for banking, living, etc. as a US citizen. Also, the same for Israel.
Edit: This is asking anyone who knows, not just the OP. |

Re: so what are our options?
that is partly wrong.
In germany by law it is forbidden to gamble online, its just not enforced that much. Gambling income would not be taxed, but only if it was gained in an licensed Casino, which are state controlled. |

Re: so what are our options?
You could opt for the UK but don't go to London. You won't get a half decent house for less than £500,000. Here in the UK online gambling is totaly legal and there is zero tax on gambling winnings, so that would save you a few £'s. As kabouter says it can be cold here. The summers are usually pretty warm though up into the 80's but the winters can be harsh but it won't drop too much below freezing point. If you are not bothered about living in London live somewhere in the north of England, houses and everything is much cheaper there.

Re: so what are our options?
Question for the UK crowd:
I've read that there has been some increase in the land based casinos (with live poker) in the UK. In particular places outside of London where one could live, and be close to a B&M for occasional live play also? |
